The Lower Dibang Valley district administration and the Anti-Drug Squad, Roing, on Sunday, raided the rented house of one Anita Das at Mayu-II and confiscated a plastic packet containing 21 paper-wrapped packs of heroin or brown sugar weighing 7.20 grams. Apart from the NDPS substance, Rs. 32,800 in cash was seized from her possession.

The seizure was made in presence of Town Magistrate, Deputy SP (HQ) Opir Paron and team consisting of Inspector Abraham Taying, L/SI Subu Sunya and L/Ct N Bosai.

Sources said the woman who lives with a tribal man has been running the racket for the last few months. The Roing police station registered a criminal case no. 34/2018 under Section 22(b) of the NDPS Act.

SP Sanjay Kr Sain lauded the police team and the women’s wing of Mayu-II for their efforts in checking the drug menace. He said that no drug peddler or abuser would be spared in the district and asked the public to share any NDPS-related information to the police.
