Guwahati: A massive fire erupted at the picturesque tourist destination of Bhairabkunda in Arunachal Pradesh on Sunday.

However, there were no casualties reported in the incident.

The blaze originated from a restaurant explosion in the Balemu village, situated under the Balemu police outpost in the West Kameng district, near the Bhairabkunda Border Out Post (BOP) Sluice Gate, around 1:30 PM.

Reports suggest the fire began in a restaurant owned by Durje Lama after a cylinder blast.

The explosion caused widespread panic, but SSB stationed at BOP Sluice Gate immediately sprang into action.

They deployed firefighting equipment swiftly brought to the scene and doused the flames with the assistance of a water tanker from BOP Bhairabkunda, as reported by an eyewitness.

The fire destroyed seven gas cylinders, two deep freezers, an inverter, and an inverter battery, causing an estimated loss of Rs 2.5 lakhs.
