Guwahati: After the state governmentโ€™s announcement, the self-enumeration stage of the houselisting and housing census for Census 2027 started on Thursday, April 16, across Arunachal Pradesh.

This phase will continue until April 30, allowing residents to submit household details through the self-enumeration system using official platforms.

Once this stage ends, fieldwork under the houselisting and housing census will begin on May 1 and continue until May 30. During this period, trained enumerators will visit homes across the state to collect and verify information.

Officials said the data collected will support planning and development by helping assess population patterns, housing conditions, and access to essential services such as water, electricity, and sanitation.

The census is a massive nationwide exercise that provides essential data for government planning, decision-making, and overall administration. The information gathered is used to design welfare programmes, distribute resources, and improve infrastructure in both rural and urban areas.

Authorities have assured that all personal details will remain confidential and will be used only for statistical purposes, with measures in place to ensure data privacy and security.

Residents have been advised to keep necessary information ready, including details of family members, housing type, and available facilities, and to verify the identity of enumerators during visits.

Meanwhile, the self-enumeration drive also began on April 16 at the district secretariat in Seppa, located in East Kameng district.

The programme was launched by Seppa East MLA Ealing Tallang in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Yashaswini B, Superintendent of Police Shivendu Bhushan, and ADC (HQ) Manjunath R.

As part of the launch, the MLA completed self-enumeration for his household at the Abo Tani conference hall, along with officials and department heads.

He praised the district administration for its preparation and dedication to Census 2027, and appreciated the use of digital systems in the process.

The district administration said it aims to make East Kameng a model district through innovation, efficiency, and public participation, while ensuring smooth conduct of the census.

Officials said departments and public representatives are working together to ensure accurate and transparent data collection.

The event was attended by Zilla Parishad members, heads of departments, members of the EKSCWO, and other officials.

In Namsai district, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein completed his self-enumeration on April 16.

Namsai MLA Chau Zingnu Namchoom and ZPC Chau Sujana Namchoom also completed their self-enumeration and encouraged public participation.

The Deputy Chief Minister said reliable data is important for planning and development at both the state and national levels.

Deputy Commissioner CR Khampa called on residents to cooperate with census teams during door-to-door visits and complete the self-enumeration process.
