Guwahati: In a major step to develop tourism and support local communities in Indiaโ€™s border regions, new facilities have been unveiled in Arunachal Pradesh’s Dibang Valley near the Indo-China border during the Pre-Reh Festival at Angrim Valley.

Anini MLA Mopi Mihu, who also serves as Advisor to the Tourism, Civil Aviation, and Geology & Mining departments, led the launch, joined by Deputy Commissioner Bekir Nyorak, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Sadhu Mihu, and other district officials.

The project provides a visitor centre, a lodge for tourists, and a community hall, aiming to improve visitor services and create opportunities for local residents.

Speaking at the event, Mopi Mihu said developing tourism sustainably can help boost the local economy in remote districts. He noted that the new infrastructure would encourage more tourists to visit the scenic valley, provide income opportunities for the local population, and help preserve traditional customs and culture.

The inauguration coincided with the Pre-Reh Festival, a cultural event of the Idu Mishmi community featuring traditional music, rituals, and performances.

The festival celebrated the regionโ€™s heritage and emphasized the role of cultural identity in community development.

Officials noted that the new facilities are expected to position Dibang Valley as a responsible and attractive tourist destination while involving the community in development efforts.
