The PMGSY road connecting Ngomdir with Beye in West Siang district in Arunachal Pradesh, blocked for the last 20 days, is making life difficult for the locals with many not even able to procure essential commodities.

A press release from West Siang’s district information and public relation officer Gijum Tali said the said stretch road is being constructed by the rural development department and the contractor assigned for the construction work has been asked to withdraw all men and materials from the roadsides and no work is taking place at present.

The road is blocked at 20 points and the people of the villagers are bracing tough times. It is getting difficult for them to procure essential commodities and evacuate patients who require emergency medical attention, the DIRPO said.

The locals are at present managing all their needs through foot marches, however, that too has been made difficult due to the landslides triggered by heavy rain, the release added.
