The militants nabbed at Khonsa in Arunachal Pradesh.

Tirap Police and troops of Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles nabbed six hardcore militants of various groups including NSCN-IM & ENNG along with weapons and ammunition from Khonsa in Arunachal Pradesh.

The militants were nabbed in a series of operations conducted from the wee hours of Thursday till Friday in Arunachal Pradesh.

Based on a specific intelligence report regarding the presence of three hardcore militants in the general area of Khonsa, a team of Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles and representatives of Tirap Police launched a joint operation.

During the operation, the joint team was able to nab the hardcore militants allegedly involved in extortion, kidnapping and nefarious activities in Arunachal Pradesh’ Tirap district.

Based on the information provided by the apprehended militants, three more militants were nabbed.

The apprehensions led to the recovery of six pistols, live ammunition, opium and extortion money.

The militants revealed that they had kidnapped and kept a woman, aged 28 years under house arrest suspecting her involvement in passing information of underground cadres to the security forces in Longbo village since June 2021.

In another shocking revelation of their activities, it also came to light that they were involved in kidnapping an RWD employee from his residence at Sanliam village in Tirap and ruthlessly tortured him and extorted Rs 3 lakh from him.

The RWD employee was blindfolded, handcuffed and taken to the jungle where he was tortured and brutally beaten while asking him to deposit an additional amount of Rs 10 lakh to them.

They also demanded Rs 50,000 from the GPC of Sinnu village at gunpoint.

They were involved in extortion activities, kidnapping and nefarious activities against security forces in south Arunachal Pradesh, sources said.
