Anang Tadar from Arunachal Pradesh, was awarded Dr APJ Abdul Kalam IGNITE Award 2017 on November 22, this year. The award was presented to him by former President Pranab Mukherjee. He got the award for inventing Goggle for Blind (G4B) to make life of visually impaired people easier.
The device Goggle for Blind (G4B) is designed to help blind people detect objects surrounding them without physical contact by means of echolocation used by bats. Echolocation is the use of sound waves and echoes to determine where objects are in space.
He also got recognition for the device earlier when he won the Dinanath Pandey Smart Idea Innovation Award, at the Regional Level Science Festival held at Regional Science centre at Guwahati recently. This year during March , he also participated in the National Level Science Exhibition held at Rastrapati Bhawan, Delhi.
Honey Bee Network, which in collaboration with National Ignition Facility (NIF), Society for Research and Initiatives for Sustainable Technologies and Institutions (SRISTI), Global Youth Action Network (GYAN) and United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) held the exhibition were inspired by his work.
