Guwahati: An NSCN (K-YA) cadre was killed in a gun-battle with the Assam Rifles in Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh on Friday.

Acting on specific input regarding movement of militants in Longding district’s Changkhao area, the Assam Rifles launched a search operation, Defence PRO and Spokesperson for Manipur, Nagaland and Southern Arunachal Pradesh, Lt Col Amit Shukla, said on Saturday.

During the operation, troops of the paramilitary force came in contact with the cadre of NSCN (K-YA), he added.

Seeing the Assam Rifles search patrol team, the militant opened fire on them, he said.  

Reacting swiftly, the troops retaliated and in the exchange of fire, the NSCN (K-YA) cadre was neutralised, he added.

Lt Col Shukla said a pistol and other combat materials were recovered from the area of incident.
