After 20 hours of relentless search, the missing boy - Dongshawa Lincoln Maring -was found safe between the Sekmai Turel river and a nearby plywood factory

Guwahati: The Assam Rifles rescued a nine-year-old boy, who had been missing since Friday (October 18, 2024), from Laiching Khuman village in Chandel district of Manipur.

The rescue operation was initiated on Saturday following a report from the village chief, the Assam Rifles said in a press statement on Monday evening.

The area was systematically divided for the search, supported by drones and tracker dogs to cover more ground efficiently, it added.

Given the boy’s special needs and communication challenges, the search efforts were concentrated around the Kangsang area, it said.

Braving difficult terrain and adverse weather conditions, teams of Assam Rifles worked through the night with unwavering resolve, it added.

The minor boy was immediately provided medical care by the rescue team and soon reunited with his family, the statement added.
