Arunachal Pradesh Governor BD Mishra on Thursday also met Minister of State (Independent Charge) Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports Col. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore.

They discussed about revitalization of sporting activities and setting up of games and sports infrastructure in the State.

Stating that football is the most popular sports in the State, the Governor requested the Union Minister for opening four football clubs in Tirap, Lohit, West Siang and Papum Pare Districts.

The Governor underscored that youth of the northeast in general and Arunachal Pradesh in particular are exceptionally talented and naturally gifted in a variety of sports. They have impressive records in the field of sports.

The Governor informed the Union Minister of recent successes in mountaineering including recent successful scaling of Mount Everest by three Arunachalees including Muri Linggi and other sporting events like badminton, martial arts etc.

The Governor said that despite lack of any sporting infrastructure, the youth of the region have performed exceedingly well. He emphasized on harnessing the raw sporting talents in a more scientific manner by providing in situ training with best infrastructure to the talented youth.
