Arunachal Pradesh governor Brig (retd) Dr BD Mishra on Friday met Minister of State (Independent Charge) Ministry of Culture Dr. Mahesh Sharma in New Delhi.

In the meeting, they discussed the strengthening of vibrant cultural assets of the State.

The Governor requested the Union Minister to open five state-of-the-art music academies in Arunachal Pradesh, one each at Itanagar, Tawang, Aalo, Pasighat and Changlang.

Dr BD Mishra also requested the union minister for promotion of literary, visual and performing arts in Arunachal Pradesh. He also called for creation of cultural awareness about the state at national and international levels. Arunachal has 26 major and 106 minor tribes.

The Governor, who has toured the entire State from Tawang District in the West to Longding District in the East, said that the people of Arunachal Pradesh have a very high creative quotient along with the rest of the States of the region.

Imbibed with high creativity, the youth of the State have excelled in the different fields of arts and music, including performing arts, he stated.

While emphasizing a concrete action to showcase the natural creativity at the national and international platforms, the Governor asked for a speedy opening of the music schools in the State.

The Union Minister assured the Governor of his help and said that the proposal will be studied with due care.
