Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner Prince Dhawan on Tuesday chaired a review meeting of the Child Welfare Committee, Itanagar Capital Complex (CWC, ICC) and Child Line Advisory Board (CLAB) at his office here.
During the meeting, the DC directed the Childline Itanagar team to compile monthly calendar events for conducting legal awareness programmes on child issues in all the schools within the Capital Complex and to install one drop box to receive any complaint from the children.
The DC also instructed the Labour Officer to strictly deal with the cases of child labour.
Dhawan informed that he will take up with the Deputy Director of Elementary Education to open Child Literacy Club under Legal Services Authority in various Government Higher Secondary schools.
CWC, ICC chairperson Kani Nada Maling informed the DC about the cases received by Committee and also expressed her concern over the increasing number of sexual abuse cases. Maling also shared various challenges that are being faced by the Committee while dealing with the cases of child in need of care and protection.
District Child Protection Unit deputy director A Lowangcha and Childline coordinator Elizabeth N Tangjang also spoke and presented reports of various activities being carried out by their respective organizations.
DMO Dr Subu Tasso Kampu, DSP T K Nath, labour officer Gyamar Tajik, members from the district and State legal services authority and representatives of Oju Welfare Association and Sishu Bhawan took part in the meeting.
