Guwahati: Australia’s High Commissioner to India Philip Green has assured a joint collaboration between Australia and Arunachal Pradesh in skill development.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu and the Australian diplomat on Sunday had a meeting at the Chief Minister’s secretariat in Itanagar.

The meeting primarily focused on strengthening skill development among the frontier state’s youths in sectors including, hydropower, infrastructure and construction in collaboration with institutions of Australia.

CM Khandu appraised the Australian diplomat of the potential of the state’s workers in sectors including, hydropower, construction and infrastructure development.

The Chief Minister laid stress on the need of skilled workforce to support the projects in the state especially in the hydropower sector.

He emphasised on the need of roping in highly skilled professionals to train the youths of Arunachal Pradesh so that they can acquire the required skills.

The Australian High Commissioner assured CM Khandu of a joint collaboration between Australia and Arunachal Pradesh in skill development.

Taking to microblogging site X later, CM Khandu said, “A great honour to welcome His Excellency Mr. Philip Green, the Australian High Commissioner to India, and his delegation to Arunachal Pradesh.”

“Our discussions focused on strengthening skill development initiatives for Arunachali youth in sectors like construction, hydropower, and infrastructure with collaboration from Australian institutions,” he said. 

“We aim to empower our youth with world-class skills, paving the way for a brighter future. I’m grateful for His Excellency’s assurance to provide high-end skills training for our youths,” CM Khandu added.
