In a joint operation carried out by the Kokrajhar Police along with the 17 Dogra Regiment of the Indian Army, one arms supplier was arrested from the Tulshibil area of Kokrajhar district on Thursday.
“The arms supplier has been apprehended along with two factory-made 7.65 mm pistols and four magazines,” Kokrajhar Superintendent of Police Rajen Singh informed.

The arrested arms supplier has been identified as 21-year-old Md Jazi Rahman. The arms supplier is the son of Md Ramjan Ali, who hails from Jamunatari village under Gossaigaon Police Station in Kokrajhar district, added Kokrajhar SP Singh.
“Follow-up action is going on,” SP Singh further said.
It may be mentioned that acting on a tip-off, a Kokrajhar Police team led by Punamjit Nath, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and Sub-Inspector Latuk Das conducted a search operation at Salmara Outpost area under Abhayapuri Police Station in Bongaigaon district and apprehended a veteran arms manufacturer and supplier.

The arrested arms dealer was identified as one Sumil Sangma, aged around 55 years and son of late Satsing Marak hailing from Saupara village in Salmara under Abhayapuri Police Station.
During the search operation conducted on April 25, 2018 at his residence, two handmade guns, arms manufacturing tools and other equipment were recovered by the police team.
