Influential All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) has reiterated its firm opposition against granting of permanent resident certificates (PRC) to non-Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribes (APSTs).
Arunachal Pradesh government led by the Chief Minister Pema Khandu has already formed a high-powered committee to examine the issue of grating PRC to non-APSTs residing in the state.

In its three-day federal assembly that came to an end on Sunday at Tezu, the AAPSU resolved to seek amendment to the State of Arunachal Pradesh Act 1986 under Article 371 (H). It will continue to seek additional insertion of constitutional provisions such as inclusion of absolute ownership of land, rivers, natural resources, forests, minerals, etc., to protect the indigenous people of Arunachal Pradesh, according to reports published in local media in Itanagar.
On the refugee and boundary issues of the state, the AAPSU has demanded creation of a separate department for maintaining strict vigil and monitoring of refugee affair. It has sought cancellation of the APST certificates, jobs, etc., obtained by refugees in Tawang and Bomdila.
The AAPSU has demanded immediate establishment of paramilitary camps at Khatan village under Lohit district to check and minimise illegal activities of extremist elements.

Besides the demand for enactment of a permanent land law for Arunachal Pradesh, the AAPSU sought establishment of police stations at all controversial boundary areas between Arunachal and Assam, and said it would submit a representation to the state government for strict monitoring of “infiltration” through the Dirak check gate in Namsai district.
During the union’s three-day federal assembly, which concluded on Saturday, AAPSU members also focused on the education sector, and demanded blacklisting of fake colleges, and listing colleges under the higher & technical education directorate on the priority list.
