Three women from Dillai in Karbi Anglong fell ill allegedly after drinking water from a packaged drinking water bottle in Dimapur town of Nagaland on Tuesday afternoon.

The women have been admitted to Diphu Civil Hospital here.

Rina Timungpi, one of the three women, who has been taking treatment in the female medicine ward of Diphu Civil Hospital, narrated that she along with two other women from Borsing Terang village at Dillai had gone to sell wild leafy vegetables at the Firing Market in Dimapur on Tuesday.

She also said as the day was hot and humid, vegetable vendor Ka-et Englengpi bought a bottle of one litre packaged drinking water from a roadside shop. The water bottle was passed to the other two women to drink.

“After few minutes Ka-et Englengpi, who drank the water first, started feeling sick with uneasiness, burning sensation and pain in her throat. The incident occurred around 2 pm,” she said.

The trio could not sell the vegetables and came back home. From Dillai, they were brought to the Diphu Civil Hospital with an emergency ambulance for treatment. They were admitted at around 7:30 on Tuesday evening.

Timungpi said that they felt better on Wednesday. The third woman, who also fell ill, has been identified as Lolita Englengpi.
