At a time when efforts have been made to curb crimes against women and rape of children, another incident of rape of a girl child, aged two-and-half-years, in Dharmanagar sub-division, has created sensation across Tripura.

According to information, the incident of rape of the girl child took place at the ST Para under Churraebari Police Station in the Dharmanagar sub-division of North Tripura on Monday afternoon around 3 to 4 pm. The incident has triggered massive resentment among the locals of the area.

As per sources, a two-and-half-years old girl child along with her five-year-old sister went to watch TV in the house of their neighbour. But taking advantage of the innocence of the child, a 15-year-old boy allegedly raped her.

After allegedly raping her, the accused dumped the seriously injured girl child in the roadside.
