Ngima Dorchi Sherpa and Lhakpa Temba Sherpa successfully scaled K2- world’s second-highest peak for the third time.
The duo scaled the 8611-metre mountain on Wednesday to the northwest of the Karakoram range.
This makes the most successful ascents of K2 or Mount Godwin-Austen or Chhogori by any Nepali mountaineer.
Dorchi and Lhakpa had earlier scaled the K2 in 2014 and 2018.
The two now are the only Nepali mountaineers who have scaled K2 for the third time.
According to records, Pakistan mountaineer Fazal Ali is the only person in the world to have scaled K2 thrice- 2014, 2017, and 2018 and that too without oxygen.
It is widely speculated that the duo would also try and scale K2 without oxygen in the future.
