Nepal reported five COVID-19 deaths in the last 24 hours, the largest single-day spike in the number of fatalities.
With the new deaths, Nepal’s COVID-19 fatality toll has reached 65, reported government sources.
“Five persons aged between 42 years to 72 years died of the COVID-19 in the last 24 hours,” the government said.
“The fatality rate has risen as the infection is growing among the older people,” the government added.
The government attributed the spike in the number of cases to the growing mobility of people after the lockdown was lifted.
Reportedly, the Nepal government had enforced lockdown on March 24 to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and it was lifted on July 21.
