Floods caused by incessant rains in Bangladesh have submerged a huge number of villages in the country.
As per media reports, while flood waters have render thousands of people homeless, nearly 200,000 people have been displaced due to flood.

According to a statement of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) more than four million people are at risk of flood insecurity and disease due to flooding in Bangladesh.
According to official figures, the death toll in Bangladesh is 30.
A media report quoted Ariful Islam, an executive engineer at the Bangladesh Water Development Board, as terming that the ongoing flood as the “worse compared to recent year”.

The report quoted another official at the federal agriculture ministry as saying that the flood situation deteriorated following breaching of three embankments along river Brahmaputra which flows through Bangladesh.
The report quoted an official in flood-hit district of Bogra as saying that the government has set up more than 1,000 relief camps to giving temporary shelter to the flood affected people.
It has also been reported that the flood-affected people in thousands now have taken shelter on highways, both sides of railway tracks and the river embankments.
According to IFRC, while floodwaters and mudslides have left hundreds of thousands of people remaining stranded without water and electricity, over 60,000 homes have been destroyed due to flood.

According to another media report, monsoon rains continue to affect most parts of Bangladesh, particularly the central-northern and south-east areas, where over 2 million people have been affected by flood.
Out of the total flood affected people, 700,500 are children, the report said.
The report also claimed that 1,865 schools have been submerged by flood waters.
It has been reported that Cox’s Bazar, which is in the south-east part of the country and home to over 1 million Rohingya refugees, has been severely hit.
