A long distance runner, Abhishek Prasad Gupta from Sikkim has shared the experiences of his recent solo ultra marathon from Gangtok to Delhi in a book to encourage youngsters.

The book was released by the Superintendent of Police (East), Tenzing Loden Lepcha here at the Press Club of Sikkim on Tuesday.
The 22-years-old runner from Singtam in East Sikkim has written his experience, challenges and other interesting facts with photographs of his solo marathon in this book. This solo marathon was flagged off by the Governor, Shriniwas Patil on 29 December last year from Raj Bhawan. He covered the distance of 1545 KMs from Gangtok to Delhi in 27 days and reached Delhi on 24 January this year.
The main objective of the run was to create awareness about Organic Sikkim, Swachh Bharat, Swachh Sikkim Abhiyan, drug abuse and fighting against child sexual abuse. On his return to the State, he was felicitated by various organizations for his initiative.

In his address, Abhishek thanked everyone who supported his initiative to create awareness on various social issues through his run from Gangtok to Delhi. He shared that the main idea for publishing the book was to share his experiences with a larger audience and to encourage young generation. He is presently practicing for his new solo run of over 3000 KMs in future to register his name in the Limca Book of Records.
SP (East) stated that the District Administration provided all possible support to Abhishek in his recent run to create awareness on social issues. He congratulated him for documentation of his journey and encouraged him to continue with such initiatives.
The function started with the welcome address by PCS president, Joseph Lepcha and ended with the presentation of vote of thanks by PCS General Secretary, Puran Tamang. The function was conducted by a journalist, Arpan Pradhan.
