Ladakh administration has begun the process of the setting-up the first-ever COVID-19 testing laboratory of the Union Territory.
Ladakh health department officials presently are sending samples of the suspected patients to the National Centre for Disease Control, Delhi.
Ladakh health commissioner secretary Rigzin Samphel informed that a team of experts from Indian Council of Medical Research will visit Leh this week.
The team headed by Ladakhi microbiologist Kunzang Chorol.
Samphel further said that the COVID-19 testing laboratory is expected to start functioning from May.
Samphel further informed that the site selection has already been completed and online training for local doctors is also being arranged.
