With reports of over 14,000 new cases on Saturday, the highest ever single-day jump in Coronavirus infections, India on Saturday crossed the 4 lakh-mark of Covid19 positive cases.

On Saturday morning, India reported 14,516 new Covid19 positive cases in a single day pushing the country’s Coronavirus caseload to over 3.95 lakh.

But by the evening, over 5,000 new cases of Covid19 were reported by several states.

According to reports, this was the third consecutive day that India has registered a record jump in the number of Covid19 cases.

A report quoted an official as saying that around 54.13 per cent of the Covid19 patients have recovered so far.

Maharashtra remains the worst-hit state in the country by the Covid19 pandemic.

On Saturday, Maharashtra alone reported 3,874 Covid19 positive cases, its highest ever jump in a single day.

With the latest spike in positive cases, the state’s overall tally stands at 1,28,205 while 5,984 people have succumbed to Covid19 in Maharashtra so far.

In Delhi, the Covid19 tally increased to over 56,000 on Saturday, with the highest single-day spike of 3,630 Covid19 positive cases.

Delhi reported more than 3,000 positive cases for the second consecutive day.

The deadly virus has claimed the lives of 2,112 so far.

Over 12,900 patients have died due to the deadly virus in India since the beginning of the pandemic.

Globally, Covid19 has infected over 86 lakh people and taken the lives of 4.5 lakh people.
