India is now among the top ten worst-hit countries with the highest number of coronavirus cases, according to John Hopkins University tally.

With the total number of coronavirus cases now reaching 1,38,845 in the country, India now has climbed to the tenth position in the list of nations that have been severely affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

India is just below Turkey where the total number of COVID-19 cases stands at 1,56,827.

United States remains the worst-hit country in the world with 16,43,499 COVID-19 cases followed by Brazil and Russia with 3,63,211 and 3,44,481 coronavirus cases respectively.

India recorded a total of 6977 cases and 154 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Of the 154 deaths reported since Sunday morning, 58 were from Maharashtra, 30 from Delhi, 29 from Gujarat, nine in Madhya Pradesh, eight from Tamil Nadu, six from Uttar Pradesh, four from Telangana, three each from Rajasthan and West Bengal, two from Bihar and one each from Punjab and Uttarakhand.

The total number of active coronavirus cases in the country has now climbed to 77103 and the number of fatalities to 4021.

A total of 57720 people have recovered so far whereas one patient has migrated from the country.
