The Indian army in association with the civil medical administration of Tawang successfully organized a two-day free medical camp at the Mago village in Tawang.

Located at 12000 feet from sea level, Mago village falls under the Thingbu Tehsil of Tawang district. It is situated 64 km away from sub-district headquarter Jang and 104 km away from district headquarters of Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh.

The village has a total population of 486 people. There are about 75 houses in Mago village.

The camp which concluded on Sunday saw a total of 229 people benefit from it.

To make the cause even more successful in the larger interest of people, various medical equipment and device manufactures also participated in the medical camp and offered free tests to the patients.

During the camp, the specialist doctors from the Indian Army and district hospital not only treated the patients on diseases in their respective fields but also ran an awareness campaign on various high altitude illnesses for the villagers by means of an audio visual lecture in local dialect.

Dr Rinchin Neema, chief medical officer, Jang, who led the team of civilian doctors was highly appreciative of Mago-Chuna Bn of 2nd Garhwal Rifles, 40 Mountain Brigade who took the initiative of organizing such a camp for the villagers residing in harsh terrain climatic conditions.

“As responsible health workers, the doctors at Tawang have always undertaken the responsibility to make sure that it is not just the medical needs of villagers that we cater to, but also the health and welfare requirements of the society,” Dr Neema said.

Conveying their gratitude to the medical team, the villagers expressed deep satisfaction and praised the efforts being put in by Mago – Chuna battalion of the Indian Army for reaching out to the remotest areas were people are in dire need of basic medical facilities.
