Speaking in an interview aired on the Sunday news program Full Measure with Sharyl Attkisson, Trump said, “I just finished the course of drug treatments and to the best of my knowledge, here I am.”
“If it’s something that helps, that’s all I want,” he added.
Trump had recently disclosed that he had been taking HCQ and a zinc supplement with an aim to stop getting infected by coronavirus after two White House staffers tested positive for the virus.
Last month, Trump touted HCQ as a potential cure for COVID-19 and even brought a huge consignment of the anti-malarial drug from India.
Although many of the US’ top medical professionals claimed HCQ to be an ineffective treatment for coronavirus, Trump revealed that he had consulted with the White House physicians regarding its use.
In a memorandum, White House physician Sean P Conley said that after numerous discussions for and against the use of HCQ with Trump, they concluded that the potential benefit from treatment outweighed the relative risk.
Meanwhile, US still continues to be the worst hit country affected by the coronavirus pandemic with a total of 16,43,499 cases.
