Sikkim’s South District administration has swung into action and is taking crucial steps of contact tracing of the first positive case of COVID-19 from the district.
It is also assessing the management of the quarantine centres set-up under South District following the report.
A 25-years-old man who recently came back to Sikkim from Delhi has been reported positive for the virus on Saturday.

District magistrate Ragul K informed that 129 samples including 73 samples from various quarantine centres in the district and 56 samples of frontline workers deployed at Melli screening centre have been sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for testing.
He further informed that samples of 17 people travelling from Delhi to Siliguri with COVID-19 positive patient belonging to East District have been tested negative.
Samples of people from West and South Districts travelling with the patients from Melli to quarantine centre have also been sent for testing, he added.
He mentioned that reports of all samples are likely to come out by Monday.
