Authorities in Manipur have extended the complete lockdown in the entire State for another seven days till August 6 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Manipur chief secretary Dr J Suresh Babu who is the chairperson of the state executive committee of the State Disaster Management Authority issued an order in this regard on Thursday evening.
There shall be complete lockdown and deputy commissioners will issue an order imposing curfew in their districts, said the order.
The activities which were permitted during the complete lockdown were also announced.
The lockdown extension was announced amid the report of the fourth death case related to COVID-19 in the State on Thursday.
The first death relating with COVID-19 and kidney complications was reported on Wednesday and three more patients having similar multiple health complications succumbed to the disease on Thursday.
On Thursday, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Manipur has increased to 2505 with the detection of 47 new cases including 10 females from different parts of the State.
The new cases have been shifted to COVID care facilities in the State for treatment.
So far 1672 case have recovered while the total active cases stand at 829.
It may be mentioned that the State had been experiencing complete lockdown from July 23 after the report of detecting infection of COVID 19 among a few people who have no history of travel outside the State.
