Dibrugarh: Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University and the Jyoti Lalita Kanoi Foundation have partnered to identify and support talented athletes from rural and remote areas of Assam.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University Vice-Chancellor Hirendra Nath Sharma and Jyoti Lalita Kanoi Foundation Trustee Jyoti Prasad Kanoi to formalise the partnership.
The initiative is expected to help young people, especially those from rural communities, tea garden areas and remote regions, access training, guidance and opportunities to demonstrate their sporting abilities.
As part of the partnership, the university and the foundation will launch a โSports Talent Hunt Campaignโ to identify promising athletes across Assam and help them develop their skills through structured training and support.
“We are very much hopeful and positive. We will be able to bring out the hidden talent from the village areas, which will be groomed with a professional approach,” said Hirendra Nath Sharma.
“Across Assamโs villages, tea gardens, schools, and remote areas, there is a wealth of undiscovered sporting talent. These young people have strength, enthusiasm, and dreams of moving forward. Yet, many are unable to develop their potential because they lack suitable opportunities, training, facilities, or proper guidance. The belief that a childโs talent should never be limited by financial circumstances or place of residence is the driving force behind this initiative,” said Jyoti Prasad Kanoi.
He added, “Through this campaign, we aim to identify promising sporting talent and guide young people towards opportunities for growth. By bringing together the Universityโs knowledge of sports and the experience of its experts with the Foundationโs commitment to social service, we seek to build a meaningful partnership.”
The initiative will focus on young athletes who lack access to proper training facilities, professional guidance and competitive platforms.
The partnership aims to give talented sportspersons from underserved areas more opportunities to develop their skills and pursue their sporting goals.
The collaboration also seeks to make sports development more inclusive by ensuring that geographical and socio-economic barriers do not prevent deserving athletes from receiving the recognition and support they need.
