The deputy commissioner and superintendent of police of Assam’s Morigaon district tested negative for COVID19 on Friday.
This has been confirmed by Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Morigaon deputy commissioner Rituraj Bora and superintendent of police Swapnaneel Deka on Thursday decided to put themselves under home quarantine as they came in contact with COVID19 patients.
Besides, the DC and SP of Morigaon district, some journalists also reportedly went under quarantine.

Within a few minutes after the spread of the news, it went viral on the social media.
The decision of the Morigaon DC and SP came hours after two more cases tested positive for COVID19 in Morigaon district on Thursday.
However, on Friday, health minister Sarma confirmed that both the DC and SP of the district are out of danger and their samples have been found negative for COVID19.
Health minister Sarma said it is a big relief for them and the people of the district.
“Happy to inform that DC/SP of Marigaon District have tested negative. It is a big relief for Team Marigaon (sic) and for us,” Sarma tweeted.

On Thursday evening, confirming the news of two new COVID19 positive cases in Morigaon, Sarma said both of the patients are ‘secondary contacts’ of positive cases, who attended the religious congregation at Nizamuddin Markaz in Delhi.
Meanwhile, health minister Sarma on Friday said Assam’s four more COVID19 cases were cured in Golaghat and they were discharged from the hospital.
Earlier, five positive patients – including two from Sonapur Civil Hospital and three from Goalpara Civil Hospital – were discharged from the hospitals after their recovery.
While Assam registered 34 COVID19 positive patients, a total of 9 patients have been discharged from the hospitals.
