COVID-19: Himanta Biswa Sarma visits Kokrajhar and Chirang districts

Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday visited Kokrajhar and Chirang districts to take stock of the preparedness of districts’  administrations for COVID-19.

He held meetings with the deputy commissioners, Superintendents of Police and the officials of districts’ health departments.

During the meetings, he took stock of the overall preparedness report and to reviewed the initiatives taken by the districts’ administrations so far for treating coronavirus patients.

Addressing the media, Sarma said, “As of now, a total of five persons are under institutional quarantine in Chirang district.”

“Among them, two have already been tested negative for coronavirus,” he further said.

“The reports of the other three persons are yet to come. We hope that their result will also be negative,” he added.

He also informed that a total of 1837 persons in Chirang district were still under home quarantine.

“However, most of them have already been passed 14 and 28 days period for showing corona symptoms” he added.

Sarma also visited the quarantine centres at Srirampur Forest Guest House, Telipara Adivasi Swahid Bhawan and Daoliguri Orphanage home and Fakiragram College in Kokrajhar district.
