COVID19: 617 samples tested, 541 turns negative in Meghalaya

In Meghalaya, 617 samples were tested for COVID19, out of which, 541 tests came out negative while the results of 67 samples are awaited.

The number of positive cases stands at 8 and one death case in the state.

This was briefed by Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma on Friday. The chief minister made the briefing through a video clip sent to the media.

Sangma informed that the health condition of the wife of the first COVID19 positive patient (who passed away) is stable and under home quarantine, and the condition of the domestic help is also stable at the Shillong Civil Hospital.

“All other positive patients are under home quarantine,” the chief minister said.

While 140 primary contacts have been traced, the secondary contact list has 4,755 people.

The total number of persons screened so far is 24,382.

The number of persons in quarantine at home is 2,557 and 105 people are under institutional quarantine.

The number of phone calls received through helpline numbers is 49,391 and the number of persons contacted through IVRS is 18,573.

The number of PPEs available is 29,084; 3-ply mask – 3,24,500 and the number of available N95 masks is 15,072.

The state has received around 3.6 lakh reusable masks and 4000 rapid test kits have been allocated to the state.

“We are trying to get more test kits,” Sangma added.

The chief minister on Friday visited the COVID19 facility in the Civil Hospital, Shillong for a review meeting with the doctors and officials who are working on the ground.

“I thank them for all the effort and long hours they are putting in and we will do everything to assist them during this time,” the chief minister tweeted.
