Guwahati: A case of Monkeypox was reported at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Guwahati, Assam which later turned into a chickenpox incident.

A patient admitted to the Neuro Surgery Department of the Cardiothoracic and Neuroscience Centre died at the hospital on Saturday, reports claimed.

Three individuals said to be employees of the hospital have also been reported to be infected.

They allegedly came into contact with the deceased.

The three were identified to be a nurse, a technician and a ward boy.

Another person is reportedly in stable condition and under observation for symptoms.

The other infected persons are now being monitored by the hospital to contain the infection.

The Monkeypox outbreak has raised concerns globally, with the CDC reporting widespread community transmission.

The hospital administration, however, denied reports of Monkeypox and clarified that the incident was a case of Chickenpox.
