Directed by Brajen Barua and produced by Rangghar Cine Productions, โDr Bezbaruaโ was released in Assam on November 7, 1969.
โDr Bezbaruaโ was marked as the beginning of the success of so-called commercial movies in the Assamese film industry.
It was the first movie where outdoor and indoor shooting entirely took place in various locations of Assam.
The movie starred Brajen Barua in the titular role along with Nipon Goswami, Renu Saikia, Meghali Devi, and Biju Phukan in pivotal roles.
The music was composed by Ramen Barua and lyrics penned by Brajen Barua and Eli Ahmed.
โJilika Jilika Tora Akakhoreโ, โKi Naam Di Matimโ, Moyna Kon Bidhatai Xajileโ are some of the popular songs of the movie sung by Dโpen Barua and Nirmala Mishra.
The 50-year-old Assamese classic was made in Hindi as โShivamโ with noted Bollywood actor Mohit Chauhan reprising the role of โDr Bezbaruaโ.
Just like the original, โShivamโs songs were also composed by Ramen Barua with popular Bollywood singers Udit Narayan, Alka Yagnik, Shaan, Mahalaxmi Iyer and Rajyoti Konwar (from Assam) lending their voices.
