Internationally acclaimed actor and Assam’s son of the soil, Adil Hussain on Thursday expressed his ‘utter disgust’ at the fact that filmmaker Rima Das, the maker of ‘Village Rockstars’, India’s official entry to the Oscars, has been moving around from pillar to post seeking financial assistance for promotion.

In a tweet on his official twitter handle, an exasperated Adil wrote:

“It’s a Shame! And Disrespect! And Absolutely Hopeless predicament for a Revolutionary Film maker one woman army @rimadasFilm to be begging for money to promote her film for Oscar race! I am so disappointed with our Authorities.”

The nationl film award winning Assamese movie ‘Village Rockstars’ beat its high profile competitors to became India’s official entry to the Academy Awards 2019 under Best Foreign language category.

But ironically, the self-trained filmmaker who almost single-handedly pulled out a stunning tale on celluloid is still battling a solitary war to keep her Oscar dream alive.

Rima needs around Rs three crore for Oscar lobbying and promotion which is just one month away.

Assam Government has already promised a sum of Rs one crore, but she is still miserably short of the required amount.

Now, Rima is seeking support from the corporate and public sectors enterprises for the Oscar promotion of her movie.
