A two-day teacher training programme called Inspire concluded on Saturday. It was organized by the Heartfulness Education Trust at Delhi Public School in Duliajan on March 30 and 31.
The programme dealt with various interactive sessions on soft skills for teachers, heart centered approach to education, different methods of teaching, classroom dynamics, and imparting value education to the students through the lesson plans designed by the global Heartfulness team.
Emphasis was given on dealing with emotional quotient and spiritual quotient than merely intelligence quotient of the student as they influence overall well being. Different learning styles and Howard Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences was explored at the session.
The significance of ‘learning to know’, ‘learning to do’, ‘learning to live together’ and ‘learning to be’ as recommended by the International Commission on Education for the 21st century was emphasized.
The teachers reviewed the lesson plans designed by the Heartfulness team to impart value education and gave presentations demonstrating methods of implementing the same in classrooms.
