The two-day long National Symposium cum workshop on effectiveness of using natural filtration in water treatment began on Tuesday at Bineswar Brahma Engineering College in Kokrajhar.

Civil Engineering Department of Bineswar Brahma Engineering College Kokrajhar BTC Assam organized in association with Assam Science Technology & Environment Council Guwhati Assam supported by Indian Oil and NPIU.
The opening ceremony was graced by Professor Hemanta Baruah VC of Bodoland University.
Dr Deepok Dutta (Director PHED) said that the water has become the paradox of human existence, increasing urbanization and advancement of life style has reduced the purity of water.

The workshop aims at examining the use of natural treatment process for surface water to make it more cost effective. It also introduces some of the latest technological tools that can aid in understand the cutting edge process on bank filtration technology, Dutta said.
The workshop was attended by delegates from Indian Institute of Technology (IITs), Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) and Technical Education Quality Improvement Program (TEQIP) of MHRD mapped institutes.
He also said that this workshop will be benefit the students of BBE College and faculty of the college.
Professor Hari Prasad Sarma Rector of Guwahati University, Professor Indu Mehrotra, Professor Pradeep Kumar Scientific expert of BF from IITs and top level officer from IOCL were present in the workshop.
