Errors in PAN and Aadhaar cards sometimes give trouble to the individuals.

While an individual needs to go to an enrollment centre for fixing Aadhaar card, anomalies in the name on PAN card can be fixed online.

Aadhaar is a 12-digit number issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) while a Permanent Account Number (PAN) is a 10-digit unique identification number, which is valid for lifetime.

Aadhaar Card is being used for identity authentication across banks, telecom companies, public distribution system, income tax among others.

However, sometimes the name of a person is misspelt in their Aadhaar card and PAN card causing problems for the individual.

Steps to correct name in Aadhaar card:

–Visit an Aadhaar enrollment centre.

–Fill out Aadhaar modification form.

–Enter the correct information in the form.

–Attach documents with the correct name and right spelling with this form.

–Rs 25-30 have to be paid for updating the information with the amount varying as per location and centre.

Procedure to correct name in PAN card

–Visit the website of National Securities Depository Limited.

–Select option ‘Correction in Existing PAN’.

–Choose the category type

–Attach documents with the correct name and the right spelling.

–Click on Submit option.

–A certain fee will be charged, the amount of which is not disclosed.

–Updated PAN card will be sent to the registered address in 45 days from the day of application.
