Dibrugarh: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday campaigned in Dibrugarh, addressing a large election rally in support of sitting BJP MLA and Assam Power Minister Prasanta Phukan.
Fadnavis noted the concept of a โdouble-engineโ government, where the same party rules both the state and the Centre, as a key driver of Assamโs development.
He praised the leadership of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, particularly noting the administrationโs approach to infiltration and its focus on safeguarding the land rights of indigenous communities.
โThe double-engine government is the guarantee of development that reaches every doorstep. Under the leadership of Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam is witnessing unprecedented progress,โ Fadnavis told the crowd.
He also referred to strategic decisions that elevated Dibrugarhโs status, saying, โThe decision to make Dibrugarh the second capital of Assam, the construction of the Assembly complex here, and the establishment of a High Court bench are testaments to this governmentโs dedication to the region.โ
The rally began on a vibrant note as MLA Prasanta Phukan welcomed Fadnavis to the dais by singing the popular Hindi song, โBambai se aaya mera dost. Dost ko salam karoโฆโโa gesture that drew loud applause from attendees.
Fadnavis concluded his speech by urging voters to support Prasanta Phukan, citing his experience and the BJPโs vision for a โViksit Assam.โ โPrasanta Phukan has been a pillar of strength for this constituency. To ensure that the pace of development in Dibrugarh does not slow down, it is essential to vote for the lotus symbol once again. This time he should win by 1 lakh votes,โ Fadnavis added.
