Bajali: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday, 25 March, made a series of major promises while campaigning for AGP candidate Dharmeswar Roy in Bajali, asserting that the region would witness significant development if the NDA returns to power.
Addressing a public rally at Barbang in Bajali, Sarma announced that the constituency would get a medical college. He said senior leader Ranjeet Kumar Dass had been entrusted with the responsibility of identifying around 100 bighas of land for the proposed project. He added that such development would not be possible without the BJP-AGP alliance.
The Chief Minister noted the importance of the alliance, stating that it would be โimpossibleโ to defeat opposition forces without AGPโs support. He urged voters to back AGP, saying that a vote for the party would also be a vote in support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and himself.
Taking a dig at Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Gaurav Gogoi, Sarma asserted that there would be no change in the name of Barpeta Medical College.
He also criticized opposition leaders, including Lurinjyoti Gogoi, alleging that they would not be able to deliver development projects like a medical college for Bajali.
Showcasing the achievements of his government, Sarma claimed that the BJP-led administration has already provided 1.75 lakh government jobs and promised to increase the number to 2 lakh if voted back to power.
He also reiterated the governmentโs commitment to a transparent recruitment system, ensuring that no student has to pay bribes for jobs.
On welfare measures, the Chief Minister said that financial assistance to women under schemes like the Orunodoi Scheme would be increased. He assured that more beneficiaries would be included and essential commodities would be provided at subsidized rates.
Sarma further stressed the need to protect Assamese identity and heritage, urging people to remain united. He warned that division could harm local businesses and disrupt social harmony.
Describing the upcoming election as crucial, Sarma said it is not just a political contest but a fight to safeguard identity and ensure development.
He appealed to voters in Bajali to support AGP candidate Dharmeswar Roy for continued progress in the region.
