One more person died due to flood in Assam on Wednesday.

According to information, one 32-year-old youth, identified as Kailash Kalita drowned in flood waters at Baniagaon near Nityananda under Bajali sub-division in Barpeta district on Wednesday.

Sources said the youth lost his life as he was swept away by flood waters while fishing in front of a culvert at Baniagaon in the morning on Wednesday.

It has been learned that along with others, Kaliash Kalita also went for fishing in flood waters at Baniagaon with net.

“When he threw his net in the flood waters, he somehow slipped in the strong current of water. His net went through the culvert along with him as his hand got fixed in the net having rope,” said sources.

Someone cut the rope and rescued him from the opposite side of the culvert and brought to the Pathsala civil hospital immediately but the doctors declared him dead.

He worked as a security guard in a private company at Guwahati.
