Assam ranked at dismal 27th position among the 29 states of the country as far as development sphere is concerned..
This was revealed in the NITI Ayog report published recently.
According to the NITI Ayog report, the development in different fields is not at all satisfactory. Only two states of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh are below Assam as far as all-round development is concerned.

According to the NITI Ayog report, Himachal Pradesh tops the list with all-round development touching all-time high.
Notably, two other north-eastern states – Manipur and Mizoram occupies 12th and 13th position as far as all-round development is concerned, according to the NITI Ayog report.
The NITI Ayog has taken into account spheres like health, poverty eradication, power, education, gender equality, sanitation, water supply, economic growth and others while preparing the report.
