Thousands of TET-qualified teachers, who came from different parts of Assam to stage protest in the state capital, have been confined at the College of Veterinary Science College playground in Khanapara on Saturday.
The teachers, who cleared Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET) seven years back, have demanded regularization of their services along with security without any pre-condition.
The administration has prevented the agitating teachers from carrying out their ‘Dispur Chalo’ programme by confining them in the sports complex.
The main gate of the multi-purpose sports complex at Khanapara in Guwahati has been locked by the administration.

The act of the administration has been criticized by the TET-qualified teachers.
They termed it as a strategy to stop their voice of protest.
Around 20,000 TET-qualified teachers have participated in the ‘Dispur Chalo’ programme.
The multi-purpose sports complex of the Veterinary Science College at Khanapara has been filled with members of the All Asom Prathamik Tet Uttirna Sikshak Samaj.
On the other hand, the administration has made a strong security arrangement to stop the agitating from moving towards the capital complex at Dispur.
Women TET-qualified teachers have also been seen with coming for protest with infants on lap.
Since their appointment, the TET-qualified teachers have been serving in different parts of the state, mostly in remote areas, on contractual basis.
The TET-qualified teachers have demanded the Assam chief minister’s intervention in solving their issues.
The agitating teachers stated that if the new National Education Policy is implemented, the contractual teachers’ security would be at stake, so they demanded regularization of their services.
