The 3rd Joint Indo-Bangladesh Army Cycling Expedition 2019, which began on March 20, 2019, concluded on Monday.

The expedition was flagged off from Binnaguri Military Station on March 20, 2019 by Brigadier Pankaj Singh.

“The expedition after cycling for six days through Binnaguri, Dhubri, Tura, Dalu in India and Haluaghat, Jamalpur, Dhanbari arrived at Madhupur in Bangladesh,” said a press release issued by Guwahati-based defence PRO Lt Col P Khongsai on Monday.

Khongsai  also informed that during the course of the expedition, the team visited Dalu War Memorial, Muktisangaram Museum and Gandhi Ashram.

The objective of the expedition was to foster a closer cooperation and brotherhood between the two Armies.

Moreover, the teams were exposed to healthy outdoor activities, adventure skills and cultural programmes, beside visiting historical places of 1971 war during the expedition.

Maj Gen Mizamur Rahaman Shameen; the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 19 Infantry Division, Bangladesh Army ‘flagged in’ the expedition on Monday.

The 26-member expedition team with participants from both the countries were exposed to friendly civil population and military officials which resulted in better understanding of unique culture, tradition and further strengthening the cordial relationship between the two Armies, added Lt Col Khongsai.
