A young couple was found hanging from a tree at Gubli Ambari village under Chaygaon police station in Kamrup district on Sunday morning.
Police officials said the deceased identified as Krishna Malakar, 21 and Sabli Das, 18, were from Fatasil Ambari area in Guwahati.
Police suspect it to be a suicide pact. Local residents from the village where the bodies were found informed Chaygaon Police who then brought down the bodies and sent them for post mortem examination to Guwahati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH).
The Chaygaon Police have registered a case of unnatural death (no 38/18) in connection with the incident. The family members of the girl have filed an FIR.

It is suspected that the two had hanged themselves late in the night. The spot where the bodies were found was a secluded spot.
According to primary information from Chaygaon police, Krishna and Sabali were in a relationship and they got married two years back.
“But the family members of the girl did not approve of the marriage as she was minor during that time,” a police official told Northeast Now.
