One 15-year-old boy, who has been identified as one Hafiz Baqtiyar, met with an accident when the scooty, which he was riding, collided with a truck on Monday evening in Darrang.

The injured boy is the son of Nur Hussain, a resident of Pub Shyamabari village near Dhula in Darrang district.

According to information, the teenage boy received serious injuries when the scooty, (bearing registration no. AS 13-D-9039), which he had been driving towards Mangaldai, was collided head-on with a cow dung carrying truck (bearing registration no. AS 01-DC-3568) coming from the opposite direction at Kerimeri chariali on the NH 15.

The incident took place at around 7 pm.

According to police in the traffic branch of Mangaldai Police Station, the driver of the truck lost his control over the vehicle and hit the scooty besides a standing three-wheeler tempo and a bicycle.

The locals who were present in the moment caught hold of the driver of the truck and had beaten him up before handing him over to police.

Meanwhile, the injured teenage boy, who was driving the scooty without wearing a helmet, was rushed to the Mangaldai Civil Hospital where he was undergoing treatment till filing of this report.
