Imphal: Manipur Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) over the alleged looting of goods worth Rs 14.12 lakh from Pastor Manu Thiumai’s residence and the Hope International Institute in Leimakhong Chingmang, Imphal West, on July 5, 2026.
The complainant reported that the site had been abandoned after the Naga hostage killings in the area on May 13.
Pastor Manu was among the six Naga men abducted from Leilon Vaiphei on May 13, 2026, and subsequently found dead on June 10, 2026.
The Sekmai Police Station registered the FIR regarding the alleged looting of household and educational items valued at approximately Rs 14.12 lakh.
The properties belonged to Pastor Manu’s residence and the Hope International Institute in Leimakhong Chingmang, Imphal West.
According to the police complaint filed by 33-year-old Paisho Thiumai from Konsakhul village, unidentified individuals, whom the complainant suspected to be members of the Kuki community, allegedly trespassed into the residential and school premises on July 5, 2026.
The intruders allegedly took away electronic equipment and educational materials, including around 30 computer sets, a refrigerator, washing machines, an RO filter, printers, an inverter with batteries, gas cylinders, a generator and other school items.
The complainant stated that the premises had been left vacant after occupants fled for safety following the abduction of 18 Naga civilians in Leilon Vaiphei on May 13, 2026, and the subsequent killing of six hostages, which he attributed to Kuki groups.
Noting that the school is located around 150 metres from the Army Headquarters (57 Mountain Division/Red Shield Division) and 500 metres from the Leimakhong Police Station, the complainant raised concerns over possible security lapses.
He has urged an official inquiry into alleged negligence or surveillance failures by local authorities in preventing the theft.
