The inspection was prompted by a series of grievances posted on social media, with consumers alleging difficulties in accessing services from the distributor

Doomdooma: The Tinsukia district administration has ordered an official inquiry after a surprise inspection found Kailashpur Indane Gramin Vitrak, an LPG distributing agency near Dirak Gate in Kailashpur, closed following consumer complaints over alleged service deficiencies.

The inspection was prompted by a series of grievances posted on social media, with consumers alleging difficulties in accessing services from the distributor.

Acting on the complaints, the district administration directed the Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Department to carry out an on-the-spot verification. The surprise inspection was conducted under the supervision of Deputy Director Birinchi Kumar Dutta to assess the situation and verify the allegations raised by consumers.

During the inspection on Saturday, officials found the agency’s office locked.

Following the inspection, the department initiated an inquiry to ascertain the reasons behind the closure and examine the issues highlighted in the complaints.

The district administration said the inspection was undertaken to verify public grievances through field-level assessment and ensure accountability in the delivery of essential public services.

The outcome of the departmental inquiry is awaited.
