Guwahati: A man lost his life after being hit by a passenger train on the Guwahati–Silghat railway line at Baghbarali in Assam’s Nagaon district on Saturday.
The incident took place in the Samaguri area while the train was travelling along its scheduled route.
Authorities identified the deceased as Munindra Barman, a resident of Gotonga in Samaguri.
In the early hours, local residents came across a body lying on the railway tracks and immediately informed the Samaguri Police.
Police personnel along with railway officials soon reached the spot and carried out a preliminary inspection of the area.
The cause of death has not yet been confirmed, and officials are examining whether it was an accident or if other factors were involved.
The remains were later taken from the railway line, after which procedural steps under law were carried out.
