Pangin: Nugong Banggo Kebang, a community-based organisation in Arunachal Pradesh’s Siang district, on Thursday launched an ambulance service aimed at providing affordable emergency medical transportation to residents of eight villages in the region.

The ambulance was flagged off at Riew Redang Dere by Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Ojing Tasing in the presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner of Pangin, Gamtum Padu.

According to the organisation, the service will be available at subsidised rates, while members of Nugong Banggo requiring emergency medical assistance will only have to bear the cost of fuel.

General Secretary-cum-Finance Secretary Shaini Taki said the ambulance was procured through funds raised via a lottery campaign launched in 2025, despite financial constraints.

During the programme, Ojing Tasing and Gamtum Padu appreciated the organisation’s efforts towards improving access to healthcare in the region.

Nugong Banggo Kebang is a non-political and non-profit organisation comprising residents of eight villages โ€” Riew, Beging, Rasing, Jorsing, Komsing Kumku, Komsing Karo, Pangi and Sissen in Siang district.
